OR-willamette valley

dirty game

is there anything better than a fast lunch ride in the sun, followed by an overflowing bowl of whole wheat spaghetti, flooded with so much sauce that one bearded little microbe build himself an arc so that he might survive, while all of the sinner microbes drowned?  yes there is.  it is what i just said, [...]

the puff.

the sun is shining. the files are sharp. my mountain bike is covered in dirt.

troll 2 movie review

alright, troll 2, let’s do this thing. before i roll the movie and type out everything that happens and call it a “review,” like i usually do, i want to let you all know that, somewhere in my past, the idea was planted in my head that this was supposed to be the worst horror movie ever made.  [...]

Sun-Soaked, Cloud-Free Awesomeness

If this past year had been my first spring/summer west of the Cascades, I would be packing up and leaving. The clouds and unrelenting rain have been soul-crushing. The curtain lifted the week after July 4th and we've been outside every day since.

Gone Fishing

My father always said his greatest failure was failing to instill a love of fishing in me. I grew up fishing on some of the best trout fishing rivers in Colorado, but my heart was always atop the peaks that towered above the streams.

Slacker Slacker

Mt. Hood Madness: June 10-11, 2010

With the recent heat wave in Portland, it was so nice to arrive at the cabin on Friday night to a nice cool evening on the deck with no mosquitos. It was pretty much paradise. As was the weekend of riding. We decided to do a pre-RAMHOOD (ride around Mt. Hood) on saturday. A 87 mile road ride with 8500 feet of climbing. It was amazing weather, great views, good friends and just plain fun. A bit of suffering of course, but a great day on the bike.

Life is good, life is... ridiculous

Nationals hosed my legs for a couple of days. I think the heat drained all the minerals out of my body and there was a bone-deep kind of ache going on long after the rest of me felt pretty all-right. Still I tapped out 19hrs, the most stress of which was loaded into a few solid rides built around the Thursday Nighter and then later the Firecracker Crit on the 4th.

six day – days four, five and six

the alpenrose six day ended last saturday, and at this point, i doubt you all care to hear the details any more than i care to share them yet again, but since i covered the first few days, i feel like i can’t move on (blogularly) until i finish it off. i challenge you to not be pumped after an introduction like that… sorry, my mood is [...]
