Road Cat3

the puff.

the sun is shining. the files are sharp. my mountain bike is covered in dirt.

short wednesday post

the tour de france is rolling along, the weather in portland is hot and sunny and i am off to race the cascade creampuff this upcoming weekend. the creampuff is a 100 mile mountain bike race in oakridge oregon on some of the best trails in the pacific northwest. i have not ridden as much as i would have liked to to train for the race but i am going in with a good attitude and will be happy to race upto and down the alpine trail 3 times.

for matt hall and dave hemming

i saw this on the embrocation cycling journal blog and the backyard blam and thought of matt and dave doing crazy things on their road bikes. while i watched the whole thing, i kept thinking of all the pinch flats and potential takes it might have taken to make this video but in the end, i sit back impressed with the balance and finesse this takes. very impressive.

new caps on the way!

i have been working with caroline over at little package to make a new and improved batch of caps that should be ready in a month or so. up until now i have silk screened every cap that has left the shop but as much as i love the “everyone is done on my kitchen table” style, i need to streamline the process to make more time behind the workbench in the workshop. in addition to batching them out and having a local shop screen the panels, the graphics are more detailed, a little bolder and look classy.

city bikes rule

finished up stu’s porteur bike yesterday just in time to snap a couple photos before he came to pick it up. it is nice to be able to build a bike for someone who loves good style and lives within walking distance. it has been a long time coming and all the details fell into place nicely.
