Echo

Today was the first mountain bike race of the season….all the way out in Echo, Oregon.

Jack Frost

Under beautiful blue skies and an annoyingly little wind out of the East, Vista Ridge showed up to test legs and lungs at the Jack Frost Time Trial.

First Blood

The 2010 race season was officially kicked off for Vista Ridge Velo yesterday as new team member, Will Sullivan tackled the brutally relentless course down at the Sublime Sublimity event.  It should be noted that not only was this Will’s first race of the season, but his first road race ever.

VRV miles

A few fortified VRV-ers put in the hours/miles today, braving some wind, some rain, a few hills and an occasional close call with rednecks driving giant 4×4.
The team headed up 219 towards Bald Peak and then out Valley Rd, ending up with a little out and back on Dairy Creek and then meeting up with another VRV-er for the final jaunt back in towards Beaverton.
With everyone taking strong pulls along the way, the miles cruised by without much concern, not even a flat (although we did have a couple of moments of chain suck, but nothing serious)
A great day on the bike.

Another Great Day To Be Alive

Ironclad took the dirt and the pavement at Ye Oulde Raceway once again and had some great results all around. The women’s trio of Lana, Deann, and Anna took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Dave D rocked the masters and Brian Barker as well. Dave Monnig and Gerow-san hit the dirt to finish very well in their categories.
Gotta love these summer nights at PIR, the two tone of dirt and pavement, seeing really bad kits, enjoying frosty beverages, it all goes so well together.

All Top 5 Hits!

Only 3 of us could actually stand after the 4th of July, so Deann Krill, Ryan Smith, and Crawfy made their way down south the Eugene to contest the Firecracker Criterium, and they scored, 3rd, 4th, and 3rd respectively to bring home some BAR points. The holiday weekend certainly affected the fields as they were fairly light, but the Greenhill Tech Park is a great place to have a crit.
Pics and more coming soon.

Idaho State Road Race Championship

In an attempt to increase participation, the Idaho State RR was moved to June for 2009. The gruelling event had been held in late August for the better part of the last ten years, and it was hoped that shifting the event from the dog days of summer would infuse some fresh blood in the bragging rights only race.

Fuck Cancer In The Face

(this post has lots of swearing in it, be warned)
Yep, you read that right. Fuck cancer. In the face. Why should we be nice to it, or show it any candor whatsoever? Nay, we say, nay. Fuck you, cancer. You wish to fuck with us, then the reaction will be ten fold. You started this crap, and Kira is going to finish it. You’ve clearly picked the wrong adversary this year, pal.

Sm’updates

The office has called for an emergency landing as there is actually smoke coming from the cockpit….we’re not sure what it is. Looking around at presstime, I see half the team huddled rodent style in a mass nap in Dave’s cubicle, Gerow is tinkering with what looks like an explosive, Ryan is slathering a slab of ribs in bbq sauce (I guess we know what the Tuesday lunch will be), Lana is luring babies into the crock pot, and there’s some of us in the basement doing god knows what. Anyhow….
